Dr. R.P. Jina was a Legend in the field of Surgery in Gorakhpur. He was HOD. Surgery B.R.D. Medical College Gorakhpur and was the most Famous, Prolific , Dynamic and skilled surgeon catering to the whole of eastern U.P. , Bihar and Some parts of Bengal He was responsible for recognition of Post Graduate Course in Surgery . He came to Gorakhpur in early 70's in Medical College and finally retired in 2010. He was instrumental in shaping the Course of Surgery in Gorakhpur and surrounding areas

He taught and trained more than 2000 Under Graduates and 200 Post Graduates in Surgery. His students today are in various fields of medicine and surgery all over India and the world.He was a very hard working,diligent,dynamic and charismatic surgeon and had his own unique style and personality which was very well liked by others.He was revered by his patients as God and they adored him like their own family member.

He wrote and co-authored more than 200 research papers and thesis . He was a very well known figure in the academic field both nationally and internationally . He was awarded various awards and citations for his academic excellence during his career .
